Starting Preschool

On Wednesday Jack has “meet the teacher” day at his preschool. Technically he’s only enrolled for Mother’s Morning Out on Mondays from 9-11:45am, but he’s number 3 on the wait list for the Tuesday/Thursday classes (there are 2) so hopefully he’ll wind up switching over to it at some point. I’m sort of torn because I’d love for him to be there two days a week, but I don’t want to mess up Harper’s morning nap two mornings a week to drive him there so for right now Mondays are perfect . Harper will be spending the day with her GiGi every other Monday, and Meg will come watch her the other morning so I can do drop off. His first day is Sept 10. I think he’ll be nervous, he may cry or he may not, but I think he’ll be OK. They play outside, do stories, crafts, free play.. I can’t imagine he won’t just love it, but I’ve been wrong before.

And Harper, not to be outdone with life changes, has started standing in her crib. Mooshing down her bumpers and standing on them to be exact. So I’ve had to take those out of her crib. So sad, they were super adorable and she used to snuggle her head up against them to sleep. Oh well, it was bound to happen eventually! This also means that I need to get something for the crib sides to protect the wood from her non-existent teeth. In Jack’s crib we protected the front rail, but he chewed the heck out of the side rails. We will not make that mistake this time. I hope.

**UPDATE** I do not think the baby approves of her new bumper-less sleep zone.  She was exhausted last night so she went down easy, but she woke up at 3:30am and cried and she hasn’t done that in MONTHS. She woke up sometimes, but she never cried, just whined. It took her 45 minutes to get back to sleep. (She did not cry the whole time, she would cry for a minute, and then roll around trying to get comfortable for 5 minutes, then cry for a minute, repeat). I didn’t go in because with Jack if you went in it only made it worse and she always seemed SO CLOSE to getting back to sleep. It was sad. Hopefully it will be a fast adjustment because I have not missed 3am.
