Growing Up

Jack is now two months old. I can hardly believe it!

Last night he spent his first night sleeping in his crib. So far he’s been sleeping in a little bassinet in our bedroom. When he was born I was like “maybe when he’s a month old we’ll put him in his room” and then that came and went and I was like “umm eventually” because it was just so darn convenient to have him right there in case he woke up. Finally I decided to suck it up and let him go to his room since he’s two months old and I definitely want him to be in his room by the time I go to work.

I’ll admit I was nervous. I thought I’d spend the entire night staring at the monitor waiting for him to wake up.

I did not.

He actually did really great! After I fed him last night I fell asleep on the sofa and Nate rocked him to sleep and put him to bed, and I actually think we all (almost all of us at least) slept better for it! He’s been waking us up around 5, squirming and grunting and farting (seriously) most mornings, but still asleep. This morning we didn’t hear it!

And I said almost all of us slept better because poor Nate woke up at 5:15 and was freaked out thinking that we hadn’t checked on Jack all night! I told him I got up and fed him at 3:30, so at least we were quiet! And hopefully he’ll continue to sleep well in his room on his own.

Awesome! That is a great feeling.

Someone I know can’t get their baby to sleep in the crib and he’s 9 months old now. He’s been sleeping in their bed since birth and they can’t get him out!
