Hey, remember back when my father-in-law was in town and I mentioned I was going to go get a build-a-bear for my dad and said I would explain later but then never did? Remember that?
Yeah, I almost didn’t either until I was writing that post about my screened in deck and it occurred to me that maybe I never mentioned that was why I got him the bear.
A few weeks ago my dad broke his wrist. In three places. From falling off a bicycle. I almost said “bike” but I didn’t want anyone to think it was a motorcycle or anything like that. He was riding it around a parking lot to check the seat height before going on one of those mass-bike-riding expeditions around town. You know the ones with the herds of bikers that you really wish would ride anywhere but where you’re going?
That’s right; he didn’t even make it out of the parking lot.
So I built him a bear with a bike helmet and knee pads and a hospital gown. I’ll admit I may have been just a tad bit pleased with myself for thinking of that. I just wish the build a bear store had a little bike to go with the gear. I guess you can’t win them all!
Anyways, don’t get me wrong, the man is not a klutz, but when he gets hurt he does not half ass it.
And I know that he really is supremely disappointed that he won’t be able to help more with the screening in project. Hopefully he’ll settle for a position in management.
