My Civic Duty

Today was the NC primary so I went and I voted, just like a good little citizen.

I also did something I never thought I’d do.

I became affiliated with the Democratic party.

I had no choice. I’m registered unaffiliated for a reason. While I’m not going to deny I lean to the Republican side of most elections, it’s not enough that I want to be completely tied to them. However, in order to get a ballot with more than three items listed on it today I had to pick one, and since the Republican nomination is pretty much a done deal I figured I’d bite the bullet and pick for the Dems, where my vote might actually matter on a national level. (And no, I didn’t vote for someone I thought could never win, I voted for the person I thought would actually make a better president).

It’s kind of exciting. But I also kind of want to figure out how to get back to unaffiliated before the actual elections this November.

Also – the big news today appears to be the empty voting locations. I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
