She is so Embarassing.

This morning we walked the dogs over to the school to let them run on the baseball field. It was going pretty well until a family came walking by with their dog. Layne turned into super-psycho-dog pretty much immediately. We’re talking full scale hair puffed, barking, pacing. I wish I had taken a video instead of a picture, but I was kind of busy trying to get her way from the fence.

It would have been fine if they had just continued walking, but they didn’t. They stopped to watch our dogs. We smiled, waved, said hi, they said hi, and they just stood there. Watching our dog freak out.

Fortunately Gouda was pretty well behaved so it was somewhat nice to know that even as Layne was puffed up and acting like a fool, when I called Gouda to come over and put his leash back on, he did.

They pretty much stood there until we had our things packed up and were on our way out. Since they stood so close to the fence with their (very excited) dog I’m not sure if they thought we’d walk out and let the dogs play together (which, if they noticed Layne’s behavior we definitely would not have), or if the guy thought if they watched us it would shame us into leaving (since we’re not really supposed to be there in the first place; but had they not had a dog that was freaking Layne out we wouldn’t have left).

So that was a fun morning.

Also – I was finally given the opportunity to talk to my neighbor about the parking in the street thing. He pulled up and parked right after I did, so when he got out of the car I asked him if he could park his car somewhere else because of the trouble Nate has pulling out of the driveway when it’s parked there. He sounded sympathetic when he said he would try to back up or something. I thanked him and went inside until Nate got home with the dogs. (He was just driving around with them to pick up some firewood).

When Nate was outside after he got home the neighbor guy walked back out to talk to him about the parking thing. He really was nice about it and he said he’d try to park further back on the curb as long as his next door neighbors didn’t mind, but that they didn’t want to park in the driveway because it’s so steep.

Umm, you bought a house but you don’t want to park in the driveway?! Why would you buy a house with a garage and a driveway and not use them?! That is so not normal!

We’ll see how it goes. I just can’t wrap my mind around the part where they bought a house with a driveway they hate so much they won’t park in it. Yes it’s steep, but it’s not the worst I’ve seen and the previous owners parked in it every day! Oh how I miss the previous owners.
