I Still Blame the Baby

So I’ve finally managed to give my cold to Nate. It took me almost a whole week, but he’s finally exhibiting symptoms. Glad to see all of my hand-washing and disinfecting didn’t so much pay off at home.

Nate seems pretty convinced that it’s allergies, but I think it’s a common cold. Or a sinus infection. Or bronchitis. Really I’ve just never had allergies (knock on wood!) so I don’t see why this year would be any different. Both my mom and my sister developed allergies after we moved here, but since it’s been 13 years and I haven’t been affected I think I’m safe. For now. This morning Nate presented me with some pretty flimsy “evidence” that it was allergies. (Where are my runny itchy eyes? Where did this cough come from??). He asked me if I plugged “denial” into the webmd symptom checker, because obviously I was deep in it. I countered with this, which sure sounds a lot like (identical to) what I have. (Except it says to see a doctor when you develop the cough, I’m gonna give it a couple days to make sure it’s really necessary).

Unfortunately I don’t think there’s a way for either one of us to actually win this one. I mean hey, maybe we have two different things. Maybe I have a cold and he has allergies. He’s actually had allergies before so it makes more sense for him to have them than for me. Also, the baby had a nasty cough while we were at the beach and I got sick pretty much the day after we got home, so I’m totally blaming her.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go put a load of laundry in the drier and then wallow on the sofa for the rest of the evening. My head is starting to hurt and whining this much is kind of exhausting.
